![]() I am not into reading manga, I like being able to see the animations and hear the soundtracks that set the mood for the anime, just a personal preference, but I am starting to want to just read it at this point. Considering the series ran for over 700 episodes, there are a high number of filler episodes across both Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden. It was annoying enough to deal with the numerous small filler arcs with the other characters, but Tsunade gets another story entirely which they could have just ended peacefully with this last episode, ain’t like it is getting any better. Reddit user TheLostGremlin offered a controversial opinion when they said, I really enjoyed the filler episodes, regardless of how silly or irrelevant they were to the main storyline. It was a painful bullet-wound of foreshadowing when the infinite tsukuyomi was activated I guess everyone knew it would be as a pandora’s box release of filler episodes, but this is just irritating. I can hardly stand the series at this point. To me the current filler arc comes across as a Genjutsu-inflicted nightmare that fans of the series have to endure. The whole fandom knows about the conclusion of the Great Ninja War, and trying to drag out the series with boring fillers makes it look as if the anime studio wants to milk the franchise out even more. The Naruto manga released its final issue a year ago. You can see the writers stopped putting any effort into the current arc and just continued writing out the script to waste time. The mystery surrounding the antagonist of the current arc came to an end this week, but it didn’t pack the punch I was expecting. The story isn’t even good! It actually makes you dislike your favorite characters. I have no idea why Tsunade is so interested in reading the whole thing. Seeing her living life surrounded by her loved ones would’ve been far better than the current arc, where she reads a story Jiraiya wrote. Both Dan and Nawaki were lost to the violence of war years ago, and Tsunade went through life thinking it was her fault because she couldn’t save them. Showing Tsunade’s dream world under the influence of the Ultimate Genjutsu could’ve made for some interesting stories starring her, her boyfriend Dan, and her younger brother Nawaki. All of this would’ve been good if it lasted for a couple of episodes, but the Jiraiya’s Ninja Scrolls have been going on for 9 weeks now, and the preview at the end assured viewers it will be back next week as well! I even enjoyed the starting episodes, but it was obvious the story was going to drag out, and the weakness of the plot threads began to be revealed. When it first started, I was actually excited about a filler arc where younger versions of familiar characters got to battle the Akatsuki in a whole new storyline. I just want the whole thing to end already and the story to return to canon, or at least a different filler arc. ![]() The Jiraiya’s Ninja Scrolls is most definitely the worst filler ever in the franchise. These female characters are never given the chance to develop beyond the archetypes they’re presented as.It looks like the atrocity that is the current Naruto Shippuden filler isn’t going to end any time soon. Tenten never even gets a last name, or gets to do much in the storylines beyond chastise her teammates for not being practical. Kurenai is presented early in the anime as a teacher who champions the students others might overlook, like Hinata, but once she is revealed as Asuma’s love interest and becomes a mother, she’s almost completely dropped from the storylines. Those are all largely glossed over to present her as shallow and only interested in finding a match who thinks she’s pretty. ![]() Ino Yamanaka is one of the most powerful female shinobi of her generation thanks to her mind control jutsu and her telepathic abilities. Sakura, however, isn’t the only female character to be sidelined. ![]() While she does grow as both a ninja and an individual, her growth takes a backseat to her obsession with the boy she’s in love with. Fans of Naruto have been quite vocal over the years about Sakura Haruno’s arc being largely reduced to following her feelings for Sasuke. ![]()
