![]() I currently make ~66k salaried with decent benefits, in a somewhat LCOL city. I know what I'm doing now works in the present, but won't lead to anything new in the future. I want to branch out and get professional experience as a much more rounded developer. I'm kind of stuck in that situation, my company is very siloed, and by their own admission, isn't good at recruitment. My point is that from their point of view, they need me to keep doing what I'm doing, they aren't interested in me branching out, because then they'd have to replace me. I do a few other things, some light SQL, but that's my main responsibility. I currently work with Python to write and maintain a large Scrapy framework that collects specific data from ~200 sites each week, about 10 million data points weekly, I do constant maintenance on it. I'm self-taught with some college classes, but no degree. I have 3.5 years experience of professional work in the industry, not counting my internship. I want to move to Los Angeles hopefully in the next 6 months if possible, but not without a local job setup first. I live in a small midwestern city, population 80k-100k. ![]()
